Lucknow: Paddy procurement will start in eastern Uttar Pradesh from Friday i.e. today (November 1). Procurement has been scheduled on different dates in the districts of Lucknow division. Procurement will start from November 1 in Lucknow, Rae Bareli and Unnao of Lucknow division along with eastern Uttar Pradesh, while paddy procurement is going on in Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur from October 1. The minimum support price of paddy has been fixed at Rs 2300 and paddy grade A at Rs 2320 per quintal.
Yogi government directed to make payment to farmers within 48 hours
According to the information received, farmers will be reimbursed at the rate of Rs 20 per quintal for unloading, sieving and cleaning of paddy. A total of 4000 procurement centers of Food and Logistics Department and other procurement agencies have been set up for paddy sale by farmers in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh. Yogi government has directed to make payment to farmers within 48 hours. Registration for paddy procurement was going on from September 1 by the Food and Logistics Department. The minimum support price of paddy has been fixed at Rs 2300 and that of paddy grade A at Rs 2320 per quintal. A total of 4000 purchase centers of the Food and Logistics Department and other purchasing agencies have been set up for the sale of paddy by farmers in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh. The purchase centers will operate from 9 am to 5 pm.
Paddy procurement started from October 1 will continue till January 31, 2025.
According to the Agriculture Department, the area covered by paddy for the Kharif marketing year 2024-25 is 61.24 lakh hectares. This year the production of paddy is estimated to be 265.54 lakh metric tonnes. The average production is estimated to be around 43.36 quintals per hectare. Paddy procurement will start from November 1 in the districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
This procurement will be done in Chitrakoot, Kanpur, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Devipatan, Basti, Azamgarh, Varanasi, Mirzapur and Prayagraj divisions of eastern Uttar Pradesh. Procurement will also start from Friday in Lucknow, Rae Bareli and Unnao of Lucknow division. Paddy procurement which started from October 1 in western Uttar Pradesh will continue till January 31, 2025. Whereas paddy procurement in eastern Uttar Pradesh will continue till February 28, 2025.
